SUMMARY

The Supervisor for Specimen Processing (SP) under the direction of the Senior Manager for Outreach-Lab Services, will coordinate and supervise the day to day operations of SP. Is responsible for direct reports including employee satisfaction,evaluations and salary input. Responsibility involves but is not limited to budget development and management, materials management, regulatory, and people management, including hiring, training/competency, performance appraisals, discipline, and separation as necessary.

DEPARTMENT: Specimen Processing

SCHEDULE: Monday- Friday | 8am-4:30pm

ATTRIBUTES

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree preferred
  • 6 years relevant experience performing functions with progressively more responsibility
  • 2 years experience in a management/supervisory capacity
  • Laboratory experience preferred

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leadership and Staff Management. Focuses on ensuring effective communication with staff, promoting team participation, and resolving conflicts to improve performance. Key responsibilities include overseeing staffing needs, scheduling, payroll, and approving overtime. The manager also plays an essential role in staff development, such as conducting performance reviews, facilitating cross-training, and handling personnel files.

  • Technical and Operational Management. Overseeing the technical aspects of laboratory operations to ensure quality and efficiency. Responsibilities include maintaining compliance with laboratory standards, reviewing reference lab results, and ensuring the integrity of specimens. Additionally, the role includes managing laboratory systems, correcting data entries, and handling downtime processes to maintain smooth operations.

  • Financial, Regulatory, and Training Management. Responsibilities include preparing and monitoring budgets, performing cost analysis, and maintaining necessary supplies. The manager ensures adherence to regulatory requirements, prepares for inspections, and addresses any deficiencies. Additionally, this role involves identifying staff training needs, coordinating mandatory in-services, and participating in the education of staff, including in medical technology and phlebotomy training.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

PAY RANGE: $60,500.00 - $77,000.00
