Join our team of System Accessories Engineers supporting the L3Harris TCOM business as an Acoustic/Audio Engineering subject matter expert. The Audio Engineer is the technical liaison between engineering, strategic sourcing, supply chain, product management, supplier quality assurance, and our suppliers. In this role, you are responsible for supporting the design, development and integration of internally developed and/or OEM audio, power, battery, charger, antenna, networking, or remote-control products used with L3Harris radios and systems. As part of these OEM integration efforts, the engineer will review supplier technology, prepare technical documents, gather requirements, develop use cases, create and execute verification and validation plans in conjunction with radio hardware and software engineers in the design, development and troubleshooting of radio systems. The Audio Engineer may also design or help design the electronics and/or circuitry for the accessory or radio component under development.
Essential Functions:
- The Audio Engineer functions as a Project Engineer with expertise in analog and digital voice audio as well as digital signal processing. They will serve as technical expert and also manage projects to identify, qualify and launch products and acoustic devices for use in military and public service sectors.
- Leads or participates in a project team of other engineers and internal and outsourced development partners to ensure delivery of reliable, cost effective and high-quality solutions for audio-related accessories.
- Serves as subject matter expert for radio teams, consulting on analog and digital audio-related features and solutions.
- Maintain product structures, documentation, and design validation data throughout the lifecycle of the product: from design to implementation to obsolescence.
- Collaborates and communicates with management, internal teams, manufacturing, and suppliers worldwide regarding manufacturing status, project progress, and issue resolution.
- Represents the accessory product engineering team for all phases of complex supply chain projects.
- Participate in product and process e3 cost reduction and product improvement efforts.
- Up to 10% travel may be required
- Ability to obtain a US security clearance is required
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant acoustic/audio engineering experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related acoustic/audio engineering experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related acoustic/audio engineering experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Familiarity with MIL-STD 810G, MIL-STD 461G, and MIL-STD 1275 desired
- Strong verbal and written skills
- Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline desired
- Strong knowledge of 2 or more of these areas: batteries/charging, power supply design, power distribution, audio, system integration, networking, or antennas, cables, connectors
- Understanding of project management processes and procedures
- Experience in systems, digital, software, electrical, mechanical, or similar engineering field
- Relevant Project Management, Project Engineering, or Project Lead experience
- Working knowledge of MS Office business applications
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New York State is $89,000 - $165,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
