Responsibilities
GENERAL PURPOSE:
This position will work under the direction of the Principal Investigators and Human Subject Research Specialists (HSRS) to help provide study coordination services for sponsor and government funded research. Our labs study early infant nutrition, allergies, and immune development. Studies involve families with infants and young children. We routinely collect biological samples (e.g., blood, stool, saliva, urine, breastmilk) from both mothers and infants, in-person and remotely. This team member will support a larger clinical team conducting the studies as well as the lab-based team focused on sample analyses.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a team environment and find fulfillment supporting pediatric research. The Human Subject Research Support Specialist (HSRSS) will inventory, assemble, and mail study collection kits and manage participant shipments. They will also be responsible for supporting study coordinators with study data collection and data entry. This work involves management of multiple inventories and spreadsheets. Attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects is imperative. There could be opportunities to support senior Human Subject Research Specialists, acting as a resource for research subjects and their families, and collecting data at study visits.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assemble Study Kits:
- Prints labels and forms to study and visit specifications for study visits
- Assembles complicated clinical sample collection kits
- Maintains inventory of supplies
- Packages specimen collection materials for shipment and Initiates shipments of collections kits to sample participants.
Scan Study Samples into Inventory:
- Receives shipments of biological samples from study participants
- Processes shipments in a timely manner upon arrival
- Scans new samples into study inventory
- Maintains sample inventories and freezer inventories of study samples.
- Works diligently to maintain cold-chain and sample integrity.
Manage Participant Shipments:
- Adhere to study protocols to track, document, and process all study shipments.
- Work with study coordinators to initiate, receive, and monitor study shipments.
- Work to mitigate delayed shipments.
- Contact shipping carriers when shipments are delayed, and trouble shoot solutions.
- Answers telephone and e-mail inquiries from investigator sites regarding shipments.
Support Study Coordinators with Study Data Collection and Data Entry.
- Support coordinators with data entry into study database.
- May provide a support role in clinical study visits conducted at the hospital or in the home.
- May support coordinators with sample retrieval from participants.
Other duties and projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- High School diploma or equivalent and xx years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Demonstrated customer relations skills required
- 2 years related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must prioritize exceptional patient care with compassion and respect. Demonstrated attention to detail, strong customer service skills, specifically oral and written communication skills. Medical Terminology experience is helpful. Demonstrate accuracy in all correspondence. Ability to work in a fast-paced, stressful environment, and demonstrate efficiency in prioritizing assignments while working successfully with a team.
