Responsibilities:
GENERAL PURPOSE
The Application Administrator I is a cross-functional team member where teamwork, collaboration, challenges, and continuous learning are the norm. The position's primary responsibilities include supporting the Medical Staff Office department at UR and Affiliates, focusing on managing and maintaining provider credentialing and payor enrollment applications. This role involves assisting in the day-to-day operations of these critical application systems to ensure they effectively support the department’s processes and procedures. This role also includes maintaining the department’s website, content management system, and procedure manuals.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Application Support and Maintenance:
- Assist in the administration and maintenance of provider credentialing and payor enrollment software applications.
- Provide basic troubleshooting and resolve common technical issues related to application functionality.
- Ensure applications are up-to-date with the latest updates and patches.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to provide support for urgent technical issues outside regular business hours.
- Collaborate with software vendors to resolve technical issues that cannot be resolved internally.
Data Management:
- Assist in conducting audits of the credentialing database to ensure accurate input and modification of provider data.
- Maintain knowledge of state and federal statutory requirements related to credentialing and provider data management.
- Support data quality assurance processes and implement corrective measures as needed.
Reporting and Analysis:
- Assist in preparing operational reports to support business decisions and strategic planning.
- Help develop monthly management reports illustrating status, backlog, and trends.
- Support data analysis efforts to improve application performance and data accuracy.
Process Improvement:
- Help identify and resolve basic technical, operational, and organizational problems.
- Assist in the implementation of solutions for existing issues.
- Support projects related to application enhancements and system implementations.
- Develop and maintain documentation of operating processes within the software system.
Compliance and Accreditation Support:
- Assist in supporting certification and accreditation processes with the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) and other regulatory bodies.
- Ensure credentialing activities comply with regulatory and accreditation requirements.
- Help prepare materials necessary for compliance with external audits.
- Vendor Coordination:
- Work with software vendors to resolve technical issues that cannot be resolved internally.
- Assist in coordinating and communicating with vendors to ensure timely and effective issue resolution.
- Track and document vendor interactions and resolutions to ensure consistent and efficient follow-up.
Website and Content Management:
- Assist in developing and maintaining the department’s intranet, internet, and SharePoint sites.
- Ensure workflow procedures within the software comply with regulatory standards.
- Manage updates and maintenance of procedure manuals for credentialing and payer enrollment functions.
Training and Documentation:
- Develop and maintain documentation of standard operating procedures and reference tools.
- Provide training and technical support to staff on software applications.
- Assist in creating customized software solutions and updating databases for tracking purposes.
- Support disaster credentialing policies and procedures maintenance.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- High School diploma and 1 year of related experience required
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience:
- One (1) year of experience working with application support or data management, preferably in a healthcare or managed care setting.
- Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL or related database experience.
- Familiarity with credentialing and payor enrollment software applications.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team required
- Ability to participate in on-call rotations required
- Basic understanding of regulatory requirements related to credentialing and provider data management preferred.
- Proven track record executing multiple work streams and producing consistent results preferred
- Strong understanding of system/application administration activities preferred
