Job Summary
Reporting to the HEOP Program Director, the Assistant Director will provide student development-based comprehensive academic, financial, and personal counseling to an assigned caseload to maximize student persistence and graduation, including providing referrals to campus resources and advocating for students' needs with various RIT offices. T
The Assistant Director will Provide HEOP programming oversight for the HEOP Student Success Peer Mentor Program, the HEOP Textbook Loan Program, and HEOP Probation, including scheduling, communications, implementation, and assessment. Provide HEOP department leadership while collaborating with MCAS professional staff to plan and execute the Division of Diversity and Inclusion Summer Experience and provide department support for HEOP admissions and academic year programming.

Student Support:
- Provide student development-based comprehensive academic, financial, and personal counseling to assigned caseload to maximize student potential for successful persistence and graduation.
- Provide referrals to campus resoureces and advocate for students’ needs with various RIT offices.
- Input counseling type and time for NYSED reporting.
- Serve as a conduct advocate for caseload students facing hearings.
Programming:- Oversee and execute the HEOP Student Success Peer Mentor Program, including scheduling, communications, implementation, and assessment.
- Oversee the HEOP Textbook Loan Program, including communication, implementation and assessment.
- Oversee and execute the HEOP Probation Program, including scheduling, communications, implementation, and assessment.
- Provide HEOP department support while collaborating with MCAS professional staff to plan and execute the Division of Diversity and Inclusion Summer Experience for 70 students.
Department Support:- Provide HEOP department support while collaborating with MCAS professional staff to plan and execute the Division of Diversity and Inclusion Summer Experience for 70 students.
- Collaborate with HEOP professional staff to interview all eligible candidates for HEOP admissions. Provide professionally informed feedback to identify most promising candidates.
- Assist with planning and execution of academic year program workshops and activities.
- Actively participate in department meetings. Exhibit tact and diplomacy and build on team strengths
Professional Development and Service:- Represent HEOP on Division committees, lead or assist with program activities/events, and other duties as assigned.
- Pursue professional development as related to leadership, diversity, student learning and development, and academic support and success
Required Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirement:
- Bachelor’s Degree required plus at least three years’ experience in college counseling and at least two years’ experience overseeing and/or coordinating student success program initiatives, especially for underrepresented students.
- Familiarity with college student development theories and academic success strategies
Skills:
- Experience with learning management systems such as myCourses, student information systems such as PeopleSoft, Microsoft Office Suite, and assessment software programs such as Taskstream and Qualtrics.
- The candidate must take initiative, have excellent communication skills, work effectively on teams, exhibit tact, calm and diplomacy in an inclusive environment, be open-minded, positive, and willing to adjust in the face of change.
- Organization, professionalism, attention to detail, and willingness to document and follow-up promptly in a fast-paced environment is a requirement.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred degree in education, college counseling, or higher education administration. Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus.
