Geva Theatre, a LORT B regional theatre in the heart of Rochester, NY with an annual operating budget of $8.5 million, seeks an experienced and collaborative Director of Connectivity (Education, Engagement, and Theatre Accessibility programs) to join its senior leadership team.
The Director of Connectivity will create and lead arts education and engagement initiatives and programs that engage, enrich, and expand access to transformational theatre experiences throughout the Greater Rochester communities. Key programs will include leading our annual Summer Academy, Student Matinee Series and Mondays at Geva, building and maintaining partnerships with a wide array of key local partners and educators, as well as engagement surrounding the shows in our season. The Director of Connectivity will build upon a strong foundation while evaluating existing programs and working with the team to envision and pilot new programs in alignment with the goals of Geva’s Strategic Plan.
As a member of the senior management team, reporting to the Artistic Director, the Director of Connectivity will participate in big picture thinking around both daily challenges and opportunities and the institution’s future. They will work closely with the entire Artistic Team, including the General Manager, Resident Director/Associate Producer, Literary Manager, and Education and Engagement team, and also serve on the Curation Team
Responsibilities:
The Director of Connectivity (Education and Engagement) will lead Education, Engagement and Theatre Accessibility programs, balancing the mission, vision, values, financial needs and strategic goals of the organization. Specific responsibilities include:
- Lead Geva’s annual Summer Academy, the pre-eminent conservatory style summer training programming in the region
- Oversee the company’s Student Matinee Series and Discovery Guides, working with schools, teachers and the city to make the program go smoothly, meeting the city’s requirements for the free admission funded by the city while also meeting sales goals for the paid student matinee groups.
- Pilot new Education programs, to include a workshop series and additional school break camps, balancing the mission, vision, values, financial needs and strategic goals of the organization.
- Lead Geva’s Engagement Programs, including Mondays at Geva, while assessing new opportunities to partner within Rochester’s multiple communities.
- Oversee Geva’s Accessibility Programs, including ASL interpreted, captioned and audio described performances, and plans for sensory friendly performances in future years.
- Lead multiple partnerships around the Rochester area, to expand Geva’s Engagement and Education programming
- Along with the Artistic Director, Resident Director/Associate Producer, Artists in Residence and Literary Manager, the Director of Connectivity will be part of the Curation team, planning programming and partnerships for Geva.
- Manage the Education and Engagement Staff
- Manage the department financial modeling and budgeting, working with the Executive Director, General Manager, and Controller as well as Artistic Director
- Convene and facilitate the Engagement and Education Committees
Desired traits in a successful candidate:
- Experience in Arts Education and Engagement programming, ideally including experience managing a theatre camp or training program
- Creative thinking and an entrepreneurial approach to expanding programming in a fiscally responsible manner in alignment with Geva’s Mission, Vision, Values, and Strategic Plan
- Strong Management experience with a demonstrated commitment to a collaborative and respectful approach
- Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to juggle multiple priorities, while responsibly managing the departmental budget
- A passion for theatre that embraces the art form’s spirit of collaboration
- Exhibit empathy, kindness, diplomacy, and humor in the workplace

Salary and benefits commensurate with experience ranging from $65,000 to $75,000.
