Location: Pittsford, NY (Hybrid position)

What does an Information Security Generalist do?

The Information Security Generalist supports the day-to-day activities of the Information Security department to ensure information assets and technologies are adequately protected. This position will support the Business Continuity Management, Third-Party Risk Management, and Information Security program activities.

What competencies and experiences are needed to be successful in this role?

  • A BS or BA degree in Cyber Security, Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Security, or relevant field normally required.
  • A minimum of two (2) years in information security, information technology or risk analysis is required.
  • Previous experience with IT audit, applications and technologies utilized by financial institutions, using or managing security applications and technologies, network architecture and security infrastructure, analyzing and correlating security logs generated by systems such as firewalls, IPS, databases, etc., conducting risk assessments and application security assessments, third-party risk management preferred.

What does a successful first year in this position look like?

  • Project dependent will facilitate, contribute to, or lead the development and maintenance of organizational governance documentation including, but not limited to, policies and standards.
  • Assist with the scheduling and management of the annual cycle for governance documentation.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of procedural documentation for all three (3) programs.
  • Assist with collection, organization and retention of records and information related to departmental processes.
  • Participate in program gap analyses and assist with planning and execution of program changes to close gaps.
  • Manage the process, records tracking, and maintenance of the Information Security Risk Exceptions.
  • Manage the Clean Desk Inspection process to ensure the collection, review, and tracking of records in accordance with related monitoring requirements.
  • Lead and coordinate internal/external audit and/or examination evidence gathering, submission and tracking across the department.

Compensation range- $30.00-$33.00 per hour
The actual salary offered within the range is dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, qualifications, skills, level offered, and performance expectations.
