The L3Harris Communication Systems segment is seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented electrical engineer experienced with antenna engineering and electromagnetic environmental effects to join an engineering organization that designs and delivers leading edge communications products.

The successful candidate will take on the pivotal role of designing and developing tactical ground-based antenna systems. They will also evaluate externally sourced antenna developments to identify critical design improvements. Furthermore, this role involves conducting comprehensive electromagnetic analyses to ensure that antenna/radio systems meet customer specifications regarding radiation safety and product efficiency. This individual will be a member of a cross functional development team with hands-on responsibility for leading aspects of design, analysis, integration, and testing. Strong communication and interpersonal skills coupled with the ability work within a large engineering team are required.

This is an opportunity to take a key role in the product development of tactical radio antennas.

Essential Functions:

  • Design, construction, evaluation, test, and analysis of RF antenna systems and other system components from HF through UHF (and sometimes beyond) using empirical and numerical methods
  • Investigate disruptive electromagnetic technology to surpass competition and enhance our IP portfolio
  • Provide Electromagnetic analyses for: safety hazards, propagation, system installation solutions, collocation, radiation patterns and similar RF system compatibility.
  • Support outsourcing efforts to ensure design integrity continues throughout the manufacturing cycle
  • Generate/refine test plans, reports, briefings, product specifications and other required documentation
  • Support hardware management for new designs and legacy sustainment
  • Proven and effective communications skills, interpersonal skills and customer focus are a must
  • Participate in product and process e3 cost reduction and product improvement efforts.
  • Up to 10% travel may be required
  • Ability to obtain a US security clearance is required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant Antenna Engineering experience Or Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related Antenna Engineering experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related Antenna Engineering experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience with HF, VHF, UHF, Ku, and L/S/C-band antenna solutions
  • Strong problem solving, prioritization, planning skills, highly motivated and result focused
  • Strong hardware background in relation to RF packaging to rugged military standards
  • Experience with circuit design, including power, digital and RF
  • Experience with DOORS or equivalent requirements management tools
  • Ability to work autonomously and with others to resolve technical issues
  • Familiarity with the INCOSE V product development model
  • Prior experience in electromagnetic modeling, with experience in NEC, HFSS, ADS or other similar numerical codes
  • Prior experience with RF test equipment, such as, signal generators, network analyzers, and spectrum analyzers

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New York State is $108,500-201,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
