WHAT WE NEED
The Accounting Manager is responsible for applying generally accepted accounting principles and procedures to record financial data, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements, and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures. This individual may act as a backup for the Controller and is a mentor to the accounting team. This role will be based in Macedon, NY (Hybrid)
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Accounts Receivable Management: Oversee accounts receivable, including assigning and monitoring credit limits, troubleshooting collection issues, and forecasting future cash receipts.
- Accounts Payable Management: Oversee accounts payable, including new vendor setup, vendor credit limits, invoice issues, and GRIR. Identify opportunities to improve the NON-PO vendor invoice approval process.
- Cash Flow Management: Update the direct model cash flow forecast weekly and act as a strategic partner with the Controller to plan future cash needs.
- General Ledger Reconciliation: Ownership of the GL reconciliation and resolve accounting variances.
- Reconciliations and Compliance: Review monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and provide action plans where applicable. Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations and maintain the integrity of financial data.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial data to generate monthly and annual financial statements for each business entity and the BRF consolidated entity.
- Month-End Closing: Own the month-end closing process, ensuring all financial reporting deadlines are met timely.
- Business Partnering: Collaborate with other departments to provide accurate financial information as needed.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and ensure that accounting control procedures are maintained.
- Capital Projects: Oversees all open capital projects with staff accountant, facilitates related cash needs, and reports project status regularly.
- Sales and Use Tax Returns
- Fixed Asset Management: Oversee the maintenance and the reconciliation of fixed asset schedules (Fixed Assets Depreciation Schedule, Operating and Finance Lease).
- Audit Leadership: Lead the annual financial audit process and coordinate deliverables with the accounting team.
- Revenue and Expense Analysis: Oversee the accurate recording and analysis of revenues and expenses.
- Tax Preparation: Assist the Controller in preparing all required schedules for the annual tax return.
- Debt Service: Maintain the debt service payment calendar and ensure all payments are made timely.
- Inventory Management: Partner with the Controller to oversee the annual physical inventory observation at all warehouse locations (if needed) and monitor inventory cycle count compliance throughout the year.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related degree.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in accounting in progressively more senior roles.
- A minimum of two (2) years of direct people leadership experience, including performance management, hiring, firing, and professional development. Prior manager level experience required.
- Expert level experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process, GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), accounting regulations and procedures.
At BRF, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within the range. The base pay range for this role is between $125k and $135k. Your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
