Job Summary
Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) Counseling and Psychological Services (CaPS) is seeking to fill an opening for an Outreach Program Coordinator. The Outreach Program Coordinator works within a multi-disciplinary team and reports to the Associate Director of Campus Engagement. The Coordinator provides goal-directed therapy services to RIT students, consults with families and RIT community members, provides educational and outreach programming, and supports the training of graduate trainees in mental health fields. The Coordinator will also manage CaPS’ outreach program by tracking outreach requests, collecting and analyzing data, and identifying areas of need. The successful Coordinator should have strong organizational skills and a passion for creating dynamic programming that supports the mental well-being of RIT’s diverse student communities. They should value a multifaceted approach to supporting student well-being involving strongly linked clinical and training efforts; collaboration with the campus community; mental health prevention/early intervention; and commitment to accessibility, diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Job Responsibilities
Direct Service
- Provide individual and group therapy services to culturally diverse undergraduate and graduate student population. Conduct needs assessments, intake evaluations, treatment follow-up, and appropriate referrals. Provide urgent care and crisis intervention. Direct clinical service may occur in the CaPS main office and in embedded locations on campus.
- Develop and deliver mental health outreach and educational programming to campus partners. Establish and maintain formal liaison relationships with an academic college, campus special interest group, or other campus entity. Occasional programming and special event needs will be delivered in the evenings and on weekends. Certain recurring university events, such as Student Orientation, require full staff participation.
- Actively support the graduate training program through design and delivery of didactic training seminars, supervision, and/or assistance with the design and implementation of other related training activities.
Administrative- Maintain clinical documentation in a thorough and timely manner.
- Review trainee session recordings and documentation.
- Track, analyze, evaluate and report on outreach activities, including, but not limited to: development, collection, and interpretation of data related to outreach programs, such as populations reached, program feedback, and other relevant aspects of efforts.
- Build liaison relationships with campus partners.
- In collaboration with Marketing specialist, develop, refine and provide promotional materials related to outreach programs.
Teamwork and Professional Development- Participate in CaPS staff meetings, peer consultation group, IHS Case Collaboration. Attend CaPS supervisory meetings.
- In collaboration with supervisor, participate in campus committees, programs, professional development opportunities and working groups.
- Provide consultation and oversight to CaPS staff who are creating or facilitating outreach programs, including workshop and community care spaces.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Graduate degree in a mental health discipline (i.e. psychology, counseling, social work)
- Must be licensed or license-eligible in New York State as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), or Psychologist. License and diagnostic privilege must be obtained within one year of hire date.
Experience
- A minimum of five years of clinical experience with young adults or adults in a dynamic mental health setting with demonstrated ability to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
- A minimum of one year experience providing mental health services and creating and facilitating outreach programs in a higher education counseling center setting.
Skills- Experience providing evidence-based short-term individual therapy, group therapy, consultation, crisis intervention, and case management with a range of clinical issues.
- Ability to conduct thorough risk assessments in the clinical context.
- Experience working effectively with historically marginalized populations.
- Ability to develop and provide relevant consultation and educational outreach services in a higher education learning community.
- Ability to work independently within a dynamic clinical and learning environment.
- Understanding of, and compliance with, the ethical and legal issues involved in the provision of clinical services.
- Ability to manage and maintain confidential and private information; uses confidential, sensitive and/or private records and information, protects information appropriately.
- Ability to establish, build and maintain effective working relationships based on respect, empathy and honesty with diverse groups and individuals.
- Effective interpersonal, written, and electronic communications skills, including the ability to convey complex information in accessible terms to diverse or multicultural audiences.
- Experience using information technology and computerized databases, including electronic health records.
- Knowledge of Deaf culture, American Sign Language (ASL), or willingness to learn.
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience providing clinical supervision.
- Demonstrated experience in providing culturally competent services to a diverse client population, with an emphasis on serving transgender students and students on the autism spectrum.
- Ability to provide therapy in ASL, Mandarin, Hindi, Farsi, Bengali, or Nepali.
