This role will be based in Macedon, NY.

WHAT WE NEED

The Production Supervisor is responsible for the management and coordination of the production team on 3rd shift (approximately 12am-8:30am) to meet customer needs and achieve standards related to cost, line efficiencies, waste, safety and productivity. The Supervisor leads key production initiatives such as safety, lean manufacturing programs, training and other production related activities as assigned.

This role is also the backup to the Plant Manager with daily production initiatives including maintaining a high quality, clean, safe, and efficient work environment that meets all customer requirements.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Leads production staff by clearly defining job responsibilities and standards of performance.
  • Maintains workflow by monitoring the steps of the process; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; developing reporting procedures and systems; and initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
  • Utilizes machinery and personnel to get maximum production and efficiency for each production run. Works to reduce and eliminate all sources of waste including raw materials, time, and equipment failures. Evaluates performance and quality of product.
  • Reviews final weekly production schedules to determine types, quantities, and specifications of products to plan department operations.
  • Coordinates activities with the other shift superintendents according to work order requirements, established priorities and availability of employees, parts, materials and equipment.
  • Assures material, resources, and equipment preparedness in support of day-to-day production requirements.
  • Conducts daily shift meetings to communicate required company and shift specific information through the utilization of Redzone.
  • Ensures adequate preparation for incoming shift to be successful by providing concise, accurate and detailed shift reports to incoming shift which communicates variations and activities that could impact quality.
  • Evaluates and manages employee performance by clearly defining job responsibilities and standards of performance; providing clear, thorough, timely feedback; and addressing performance problems and issues promptly. Thoroughly and sensitively provides constructive criticism.
  • Assists in interviewing and hiring of staff, on assigned shift, and cross-functionally as requested by other hiring managers.
  • Conducts ongoing assessment and training needs identification including maintaining the training / skill matrix for employees assigned to their team.
  • Provides leadership and accountability for achieving targets for assigned areas of specialized responsibility such as safety, training, lean manufacturing, yield improvements, processing, and packaging continuous improvement.
  • Completes and analyzes Shift Reports on a daily basis and recommends continuous improvement initiatives for these production metrics with the Production Manager.
  • Assists the Production Manager with supporting the variable budgets for production operations and with analyzing and justifying capital requirements.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL

  • BS degree in Engineering strongly preferred with 1-2 years of co-op experience in a manufacturing setting, or a HS diploma plus five (5) years of manufacturing experience and two (2) years in a Production Supervisor (or equivalent) role is required.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude is required. Position requires hands-on capability to operate all machinery and equipment. Training will be provided.
  • Must possess a strong results driven leadership, with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, time-sensitive. environment with shifting priorities and multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to build, coach and motivate personnel, while holding employees accountable for result.
  • Experience with RedZone preferred
  • Experience with SAP ERP preferred
  • Due to SQF regulations, all employees must be able to fluently read, write, and converse in the English language.

At BRF, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. The base pay range for this role is between $75,000-$85,000. Your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
