Overview
St. John Fisher University is an independent, liberal arts institution that provides a transformative education to approximately 3,800 undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students each year. Across its five Schools, Fisher offers nearly 40 majors in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, business, education, and nursing; 11 pre-professional programs; and master’s and doctoral programs in business, nursing, education, pharmacy, and public health. Job Responsibilities
Shift assignment(s) are made based on operational needs and subject to change – (see “Work Hours” for hours of operation) The officer would be expected to perform routine security patrols, investigate reported and self-initiated complaints. Investigate and prepare reports on all incidents reported to security (criminal complaints, fire alarms, injuries, accidents and illnesses). Respond to emergency situations, assist with building evacuation and provide aid and assistance where needed. Assist with medical needs and call for/provide transportation to medical resources. Other routine duties include but are not limited to on-campus parking and traffic enforcement and control, enforce college regulations and lock and unlock campus buildings. The officer will also be available to operate all department vehicles which include campus shuttles and provide security escorts to students, faculty and staff upon request.
Education / Experience
Education Required: Associate Degree in Criminal Justice or equivalent experience Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice Experience Prior Law Enforcement experience preferred but not required. Licenses Must have a valid driver’s license with no significant convictions. NYS Security License-All officers must possess a valid NYS Security Guard license. If you are not currently licensed as a NYS Security Guard, Fisher will take care of the expenses associated with obtaining your license.
Supervision of Employees
Assist with supervising student workers/shuttle drivers on shift.
Work Environment
All campus owned and controlled properties. Patrols, inspections and investigations require frequent indoor and outdoor routines in all types of weather conditions; foot, vehicle and stationary patrols required; possible exposure to hazardous materials, severe weather conditions and physical confrontations with unstable persons and individuals who are violating laws and regulations.

This is an entry level position- full time. Work Hours: 40 hours during one of the following shifts Shift of normal operations are: Shift A: 7:00 am – 3:00 pm Shift B: 3:00 pm – 11:00 pm Shift C: 11:00 pm – 7:00 am Shift D: 7:00 pm – 3:00 am Shift E: 11:00 am – 7:00 pm Variables: Required to be available for overtime and shift changes on short notice, or may be subject to recall. Operation is 24/7. May be assigned to any shift.

Salary / Hourly Range
$20.00 per hour - Don't have NYS Security Guard license? No problem! Fisher will cover the cost for your license PLUS new hires will be eligible for a $1000 retention bonus after completing 12 months of employment.
