Reporting to the Executive Director of Marketing & Operations, the Assistant Director of Creative & Communications is the driving force behind our brand. In this dynamic role, you'll lead the development of compelling visual content, oversee the division’s marketing and communications strategy, and ensure our message resonates with diverse audiences.
You'll take the lead on:
- Designing bold, high-quality graphics and visual materials that reflect our values
- Managing and producing digital and print assets, including our website, newsletters, reports, and event collateral
- Establishing consistent communication standards and executing strategic marketing plans
- Leveraging data to maximize the impact of our social media presence

Job Responsibilities
Design:
- Design and develop marketing collateral for departments, program and events, which include print, digital, email, and other platforms of distribution.
- Establish, implement and evolve brand guidelines for the division that coincide with university standards of practice based on the guidelines from the division of Marketing & Communications.
- Design advertisements and advertorials for sponsorship and national publications
- Serve as contact for the division on production, coordination and ordering of collateral and promotional materials. Works with vendors on obtaining quotes and supplying correct files for production.
- Develop and collect visuals to enhance the content for the division’s monthly newsletter (September through May)
- Construct the monthly web-based division newsletter
- Develop and collect visuals to construct the design of the Division for Diversity & Inclusions Annual Report (Tiger Imprint Showcase) using a web-based platform.
- Develop and create videos and presentations for signature events
- Photograph events and projects for use in collateral or marketing material. Maintain photo collection and design file archives.
- Work with various division members using tools like Canva to ensure consistency with any decentralized creative efforts.
Communication:- Serve as the contact for the Division’s websites to maintain and update all aspects of the websites and its respective areas: including editing, photo selection, management and web asset management.
- Produce and implement division communication standards and guidelines. Build emails for divisional communications based on regulations for email standards while utilizing various web-based email communication platforms.
- Develop and implement integrated communication plans for divisional events, programs and initiatives.
- Analyze areas of improvement and effectiveness for overall communications strategy to ensure consistency and that reflects the organization’s strategic vision.
Social Media:- Develop division social media strategy in line with direction of university level social media for implementation through our platforms.
- Utilize social media management platform to schedule, post and analyze social media efforts.
- Create and implement new content and re-post content and schedule work for digital communications, publications, emails, and marketing materials to drive exposure, influence, and engagement.
- Work with the departments to develop and implement social media communication and outreach plans.
- Ensure all brand guidelines are maintained across divisional social media platforms
- Review goals that are established based on strategic direction and measures success based on social media analytics.
Required Qualifications
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or similar field
- A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant professional experience in marketing and communications
- A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in creative design
Skills- Ability to handle requests with short turnaround times; requiring someone with advanced skills to quickly and properly produce designs that are ready for on-screen, commercially printed, and/or by-hand production.
- Demonstrated computer and software skills including Mac platform, Adobe Creative suite (Advanced), Microsoft Office, Brandwatch, , Web Programming Languages (drupal) and basic knowledge of HTML.
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience with social media platforms that include X, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and social media analytics.
- Experience executing social media strategy and managing marketing campaigns
- Articulate, conscientious, and willing to work as part of a team as well as independently
- Strong organizational skills.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Skilled at organizing projects, handling multiple tasks simultaneously, meeting deadlines.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
- The ability to consider alternative and diverse perspectives, to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, remain poised under all circumstances, and to interact effectively with people in a positive manner that engenders confidence and trust.
- Demonstrated ability to work collegially and collaboratively with diverse internal and external constituencies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree
- Knowledge of RIT and/or Higher Education is a plus
- Photography skills is a strong plus
- Previous experience in higher education creative
