Function of Position:
Reporting directly to the Director of Environmental Health and Safety, the Fire and EHS Technical Assistant provides fire
and environmental health and safety services to achieve Monroe Community College College's goal of a safe and healthy workplace
and academic environment.
Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:
The Fire/EHS Technical Assistant is responsible for managing the fire safety program and assisting with other environmental safety
programs. He/she must work collaboratively with students, staff, and faculty. The Fire/EHS Technical Assistant must be able to
prioritize multiple projects and work effectively in a busy and fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Manages MCC's Fire Safety Program, including but not limited to the following duties: - Acts as a consultant to all college community members regarding compliance with fire safety regulations and best
- practices.
- Issues hot work permits.
- Develops and conducts employee and student fire safety training sessions.
- Conducts fire drills and compiles associated reports and corrective actions.
- Conducts periodic inspections of all buildings, identifying fire and building code violations, and working with
- management to eliminate the violations.
- Responsible for inspection, testing, maintaining, repairing and installing fire safety equipment and systems according
- to NYS Fire Regulations. This includes, but not limited to:
- Fire Alarm Systems
- Sprinkler systems
- FM 200 Fire Suppression Systems
- Kitchen Hood Systems
- Fire extinguishers
- Emergency and Exit lighting
- Fire Drop Doors
Ensures all violations are corrected within the required timeframe following the annual NYS Fire Inspection.Meets with contractors prior to new construction or renovations and inspects projects on a routine basis until completion. - Responds to fire alarms and in the event of a fire, acts as the liaison to the local fire department and law enforcement, investigating the cause of fire, and submitting a fire report to NYS.
Inspects MCC's petroleum bulk storage tanks and silver recovery units and maintains associated paper working documenting inspection, found deficiencies and corrective actions.Provides inspection, audit, guidance, and maintains associated documentation regarding Lock Out-Tag Out, Confined Space, and Fall Protection.Provides emergency response assistance as needed.Assistant Safety Officer.Assistant Fire Marshal.Performs other job related duties as required.MCC Expectations:

Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
Associates Degree or higher in Fire Science, Fire Protection Technology, Engineering, Emergency Management, or related safety program.At least 6 months of fire safety experience, including co-ops and internships.Certified or capable of being certified as a Code Enforcement Official in New York StateGood organizational and record keeping skillsExperience with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerpointAccurate writing and effective communication skillsThe successful candidate will be subject to a background check investigation and will be asked to provide proof of valid NYS driver's license. Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in managing a fire safety program in a college campus settingFamiliar with the components of an Environmental Health and Safety ProgramNYS Code Enforcement CertificationCompletion of the OSHA 30 Hour General Industry Training CourseBilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently.
Additional Information:
Salary: Salary is determined based on experience, internal equity and college budget. This position has a range of $43,260 to $70,443 and is based on these mentioned factors.
