St. John Fisher University is an independent, liberal arts institution that provides a transformative education to approximately 3,800 undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students each year. Across its five Schools, Fisher offers nearly 40 majors in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, business, education, and nursing; 11 pre-professional programs; and master’s and doctoral programs in business, nursing, education, pharmacy, and public health. Wilson, Jr. School of Education was created in 2003 and is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Education Preparation (CAEP). The School provides degree options at the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels to prepare education professionals for certification as well as teaching and leadership careers in schools, elementary through high school. Job Responsibilities
The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr., School of Education at St. John Fisher University, Rochester, New York is committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship, advisement, and service. The Inclusive Education Department in the School of Education is seeking applicants for an Assistant Professor of Adolescence Education. The applicant is open for a tenure track or a visiting/term position depending on the qualifications of the finalist. The position will begin August 15, 2025. Of particular interest are candidates with certifications in areas such as special education and/or literacy, and experience with hybrid/online modalities, and a commitment to and experiences with culturally responsive and inclusive education practices at the adolescence level. Opportunities for administrative responsibilities are possible. Job Responsibilities: Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate inclusive education courses such as social and historical foundations of Education, social studies methods, diversity, equity, and inclusive focused courses, developmental and general methods. Teaching courses in the liberal arts, general education core curriculum may be required. Additional responsibilities include the following: undergraduate and graduate advising; service (including department, school and university committee assignments), and research.
Education / Experience
Required Qualifications Tenure Track Assistant Professor: Ph.D. or Ed.D in in social studies teacher education, curriculum studies, or foundations of education (in one or more areas- sociology, history, or philosophy of education), or in a related field Visiting Professor: Master’s Degree in in social studies teacher education, curriculum studies, or foundations of education (in one or more areas- sociology, history, or philosophy of education), or in a related field Teaching Certification: Social Studies Education in Adolescence Experience with inclusive practices and culturally-responsive teaching at the adolescence level, grades 7-12 Excellent oral and written communication Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching, scholarship, advisement, and service Demonstrated commitment to the mission of the School of Education Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others Demonstrated interest in diversity, equity, and inclusive initiatives Minimum 2 years classroom teaching experience Preferred Qualifications Additional Certification: Special Education and/or Literacy Education Experience teaching in higher education Skills in instructional technology and teaching in hybrid/online modalities Scholarly research, publications, and/or presentations Ability to work collaboratively within and across the disciplines represented in the department, school, and university Interest in administrative roles Experience with accreditation Experience supervising pre-service teachers in classrooms

Tenure Track: $59,500.00 - $70,000.00 per year; Non-Tenure Track: $53,400.00 - $62,800.00 per year
