Description This is a Competitive Class position. The individual selected to fill this vacancy will be given a provisional appointment and will be required to participate in the next Civil Service Examination for this title.

A qualified applicant may be provisionally appointed and serve in the position until a Civil Service Examination is administered and an appropriate eligible list can be established to make a permanent appointment in accordance with the Civil Service Rule of Three. CITY RESIDENCY WILL BE REQUIRED WITHIN ONE YEAR OF HIRE.

  • Responsible for the overall maintenance and ongoing build-out of multi-tenant Software;
  • Designs and oversees release testing of the system to ensure that it meets the City’s needs;
  • Leads the change control process for the system by evaluating the feasibility and value of requests for changes to the system, as well as prioritizing system upgrades and enhancements;
  • Ensures the system’s performance continuously meets all standards outlined in the vendor contract;
  • Develops plans and monitors all necessary hardware or software upgrades to support the system’s growth and health;
  • Serves as the data owner and subject matter expert for the system;
  • Oversees all system upgrades; 
  • Develops and implements contingency plans for the system such as data backups, disaster recovery planning, business continuity planning, and archiving;
  • Configures and provides continuous improvements to stock reports and dashboards; 
  • Writes scripts or uses external tools to configure the automation of scheduled jobs;
  • Troubleshoots and resolves day-to-day issues related to system performance and if necessary works with the vendor to resolve major system issues; 
  • Provides direct support to system users such as answering questions on system use, data, reporting, and workflow; 
  • Creates training resources and provides training for internal and external users; 
  • Defines and configures user access roles by understanding best practices and procedures;
  • Partners with City IT Security Staff to discuss potential impacts of system patches on application performance.
  • Bachelor’s Degree and two (2) years of experience working on application support or database administration;

OR

  • Associate’s Degree and four (4) years of experience working on application support or database administration;

OR

  • A high school diploma and six (6) years of experience working on application support or database administration.
