POSITION TITLE: Family Services Case Coordinator  

SALARY: $45,760.00-$48,000.00 

REPORTS TO: Director of Family Services 

FLSA STATUS: Full time (40 hours), Non-exempt 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Family Services Case Coordinator at The CACGROC is crucial in providing direct advocacy support services to child victims and non-offending family members. This role involves closely working with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to ensure that all children and families have access to advocacy support while maintaining high standards of confidentiality and professional ethics. The coordinator will manage cases effectively, ensuring that families receive the necessary resources and support throughout the advocacy process. 

The Family Services Case Coordinator position is full-time at 40 hours per week typically during standard office hours, and reports to the Director of Family Services. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Client Interaction:

· Engage and establish rapport with child victims and non-offending family members during appointments at the Child Advocacy Center.

· Provide advocacy services according to National Children’s Alliance (NCA) standards and the CACGROC MDT Child Abuse Guidelines.

Assessment and Planning:

· Administer screenings to assess the needs of child victims and non-offending family members, including mental health evaluations.

· Develop comprehensive safety plans with non-offending caregivers as needed.

· Provide proactive outreach and follow-up to ensure victims and non-offending family members are engaged in mental health services, if necessary.

Case Management:

· Review all incoming cases, ensuring timely assignment to Family Advocates while maintaining clear communication with the multidisciplinary team.

· Oversee proper case documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, tracking updates and progress.

· Update client records with case outcomes to maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation.

· Conduct monthly peer audits of each Family Advocate's caseload to ensure compliance, completeness, and quality of documentation with the EMR. 

· Coordinate, schedule, and make referrals for services provided by team members and other providers as warranted.

· Other duties, as assigned.

Inventory & Resource Management:

· Identify and vet community resources to support families, ensuring that a comprehensive and current directory is maintained and accessible.

· Order, maintain, and track the assignment of door alarms and lock boxes to ensure the safety and security of clients and staff.

· Manage the distribution and tracking of family gift cards, ensuring that they are used appropriately and effectively

· Facilitate transportation requests and setups for clients to ensure they can access necessary services and appointments.

Legal Support:

· Assist families in understanding the legal system related to the prosecution of child abuse cases, providing proactive outreach, follow-up, and accompaniment services throughout the investigative and judicial process.

· Coordinate with the District Attorney’s Office to ensure appointments are scheduled and maintained during the court process.

· Assist non-offending caregivers/guardians with completing and filing NYS Office of Victim Services (OVS) compensation claim applications.

Training and Collaboration:

· Attending intervention services rounds to collaborate on incoming cases, discussing strategies and updates.

· Work with the MDT team to develop and maintain training and client support service standards for all Family Advocates county-wide.

· Communicate effectively with child victims, witnesses, and others, regardless of age, sex, social, economic, cultural, or ethnic backgrounds, while maintaining a strict standard of confidentiality.

· Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team (MDT), providing support at The CACGROC or responding in the field as necessary. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Education: 

· Bachelor’s degree in social work, Counseling, Criminal Justice, Psychology, or a related field preferred; equivalent work experience in case management or social services may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Experience:

· Minimum of 3 years of experience working with victims and/or vulnerable children and families.

· Experience in child advocacy, trauma-informed care, or similar areas is highly desirable.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

· Outstanding customer service, interpersonal communication, and listening skills

· Prior experience providing crisis counseling or problem solving with at-risk children and families

· Knowledge of advocacy standards and skills relating to victims of crime

· Knowledge of child abuse dynamics, child protective and law enforcement investigation procedures, and the legal reporting mandates for professionals

· Ability to engage and build rapport with all children and family members 

· Familiarity with the legal, social service, medical and mental health systems responsible for protecting children

· Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with multiple agencies 

· Ability to effectively prioritize and organize assignments in a fast-paced work environment

· Respect for diversity and a commitment to providing culturally competent and inclusive services

· Strong organizational and communication skills. 

· Experience managing people with diverse backgrounds.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Prolonged periods of working on a computer

· Ability to communicate, both verbally and in written form

· Ability to bend, squat, and climb stairs, as well as lift 25 pounds

· Must be able to work a flexible schedule and have reliable transportation to travel to multiple sites when needed
