Function of Position:

The Senior TA / Lab Technician will be responsible for supporting the Manager of the Skilled Trades and Apprenticeship programs for the FWD Center of Monroe Community College at the Downtown Campus and its operations of the educational and laboratory environments, ensuring that all tasks related to course setup, student advisement, lab maintenance, and instructional support are completed with efficiency and accuracy. This role is vital in ensuring that all materials, supplies, and curriculum components are available, properly stocked, and maintained to support effective learning experiences.

This position requires proficiency in using multiple systems and software applications such as Salesforce, Campus CE, Word, Excel, Teams, and Bright Space. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, and demonstrate an understanding of the unique requirements of a lab-based instructional environment as it's related to general construction, Plumbing, Electrical, and HVAC.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:

The Senior TA / Lab Technician will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of both the educational and lab environments, supporting instructors, students, and other stakeholders. The position requires strong attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Course & Lab Setup and Maintenance:

  • Set up, adjust, and maintain Bright Space course shells to ensure that all materials and resources are available to students and instructors.
  • Assist with lab and equipment setup and maintenance to ensure a safe and functional learning environment.
  • Create and submit facility work orders for required repairs, maintenance, and work request to keep the lab environment operational.
  • Inventory and Procurement:

  • Manage materials, supplies, and curriculum inventories, ensuring that all necessary items are stocked and available for use.
  • Process quotes, requisitions, and purchase orders for materials, supplies, and curriculum in accordance with budget guidelines and program needs.
  • Instructor and Student Support:

  • Maintain and file Student Sign in sheets and ensure Instructors are regularly updating the Bright Space Attendance Log.
  • Print, provide, collect, and file module exams to assist instructors and confirm the tracking of student progress using "Form 200" in the Bright Space course shells
  • Assist instructors in the lab by providing operational support, managing lab resources, and ensuring a productive learning environment.
  • Maintain apprentice completion reports and track student progress toward program pathway goals.
  • Coordinate student surveys and registration events to gather feedback and ensure smooth enrollment processes.
  • Create, disperse, and file: Instructor letter of Agreements (ILA's), Company letter of agreements (CLOA's) and Course Information Sheet (CIS) forms as required for program documentation.
  • Advisory Committee and Transportation Planning:

  • Assist with the coordination and preparation of Advisory Committee meetings, ensuring all necessary materials, content, and logistics are in place.
  • Plan and establish transportation arrangements for instructors, staff, or students as required for program-related activities.
  • Systems and Software Proficiency:

  • Utilize Salesforce for managing student and lead information.
  • Use Campus CE to track student progress, attendance, and enrollment data.
  • Proficiently use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) for documentation, reporting, and communication.
  • Manage course content and instructor resources through NCCER and Bright Space, ensuring that all learning materials are organized and accessible to both instructors and students.

  • Requirements:

    Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of an Associate's degree or equivalent work experience in a relevant field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a lab technician, coordinator, or administrative support role, preferably in an educational or technical training environment.
  • 5S Organization System certification.
  • Ability to lift and carry supplies and equipment (up to 50 lbs).
  • Ability to set up, breakdown, and maintain lab equipment, which may require bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Proficient in the use of Salesforce, Campus CE, Bright Space, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with lab environments and the maintenance of instructional materials and equipment
  • Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently

  • Additional Information:

    Salary: Salary is determined based on experience, internal equity and college budget. This position has a range of $26 to $32 hourly and is based on these mentioned factors.

    Work Schedule: Monday-Thursday 1:30-8:30 pm (24 hours/week)
