Description of Duties

This is a professional surveying position, located in the Monroe County Finance Department, responsible for directing surveying activities associated with County projects. Duties involve ensuring a survey program is developed, project priorities set, and work schedules established to meet survey program priorities, project schedules and special requests. The employee reports directly to, and works under the general supervision of the Director of Real Property Tax Services. General supervision is exercised over a technical staff. Does related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus EITHER:

(A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Forestry, or a surveying degree such as Surveying and Mapping, Land Surveying, Surveying Engineering or a closely related field, plus three (3) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience planning, directing, and coordinating civil surveying projects which include responsibility for boundary determination and mapping; OR,

(B) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate’s degree in one of the fields mentioned in (A) above plus five (5) years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience planning, directing, and coordinating civil surveying projects which include responsibility for boundary determination and mapping; OR,

(C) Seven years paid full-time or its part-time equivalent experience planning, directing, and coordinating civil surveying projects which include responsibility for boundary determination and mapping; OR,

(D) An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (A), (B) and (C) above.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Possession of a valid New York State Land Surveyor license issued by the New York State Education Department (Copy of license must be submitted with application).
