Function of Position
Adjunct faculty prepare and teach courses in the department, develop new educational materials, and assist with the assessment of
student learning, as appropriate. Classes may be assigned at the Applied Technologies Center, Brighton Campus, or Downtown
Campus (or other sites, as needed). Adjunct faculty report to the chairperson and/or adjunct coordinator of the department. The
successful candidate will bring expertise in Precision Tooling & Machining and a passion for teaching and a desire to support and
mentor diverse MCC students as they pursue educational and career goals.
Examples of Duties and Responsibilities
Provide students with appropriate learning materials and expertise in assigned subjectsDemonstrate appropriate knowledge of subjectEncourage students' participation in class activitiesIdentify learning objectives and evaluates student performance based on objectivesPrepare course syllabi and outlines and all laboratory safety rules and proceduresEstablishes and maintains a clean, organized, and disciplined laboratory and classroom environmentProvide students with assistance and guidanceAdhere to all College and department policiesProvide timely submission of all required paperwork/information as required by the program, department, or CollegeMCC Expectations

Requirements:
Required Qualifications
Earned associate's degree or higher in Applied Science or Technology from a regionally accredited higher education institutionOR five years skilled trades/industrial experienceFor laboratory assignments, demonstrated proficiency in the safe use of 2 axis programmable mill, manual engine lathe, and surface grinder or setup and operation of computer numerically controlled machine tool(s)Commitment to supporting an equitable and inclusive environment on campusEvidence of respect for and understanding of people with diverse backgrounds, abilities, and needsEvidence of commitment to the philosophy of a comprehensive community collegeEvidence of effective communication skills (interpersonal, speaking, and writing)
Preferred Qualifications
Earned bachelor's degree or higher from a regionally accredited higher education institutionTeaching experience in the fieldKnowledge of, or experience in, implementing a variety of teaching strategiesCompleted certified trades related apprenticeship
Additional Information:
Pay Rate for Fall 2024 & Spring 2025: Determined on adjunct rank and ranges from $1,181- $1,441 per contact hour.
Prohibition of Remote Work Outside New York State: Remote work locations outside New York State are not authorized by the College due to out-of-state tax and regulatory implications. Monroe Community College is seeking a pool of qualified applicants for possible temporary part-time faculty teaching assignments. These positions are filled on an as needed basis and are on-going recruitment efforts. Adjunct pools are open continuously and applicants are contacted/hired year-round for assignments based on college needs.
