Role Overview
As the Finance Coordinator I/II at Measures for Justice, you will lead the management of accounts payable and receivable, process semi-monthly payroll, and support the organization’s financial reporting efforts. In close collaboration with the Director of Finance, you will contribute to the development of the annual budget and assist with the successful completion of the annual audit. Additionally, you will drive the implementation of efficient systems and reporting processes to ensure timely and accurate financial data. Through your contributions, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the financial health and sustainability of Measures for Justice.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage timely processing of invoices, payments, and receipts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with organizational protocols and generally accepted accounting principles
- Responsible for semi-monthly payroll, collaborating with our professional employer organization (PEO) to ensure accurate and timely compensation for all employees
- Assist the Director of Finance in compiling financial data, creating budget documents, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals
- Collaborate with the Director of Finance and external accountants to prepare schedules and ensure compliance with audit and tax requirements
- Create and refine systems for tracking expenses, revenues, and grant allocations while ensuring efficient reporting processes
- Reconcile credit card statements, expense reports, and donations to maintain accurate financial records
- Maintain adherence to federal, state, and organizational policies, updating financial protocols as needed to reflect best practices
- Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging by modeling inclusive behaviors and proactively managing bias
Your Experience
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting
- Proficiency using Quickbooks for managing financial transactions, generating reports, and ensuring accurate record-keeping
- Experience using Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets, including data analysis, formulas, and financial reporting
- Demonstrated ability to manage payroll processes, including familiarity with payroll systems and compliance requirements
- Experience assisting with budget creation, including data compilation and analysis, and supporting financial audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate and compliant financial records
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify and implement process improvement opportunities
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating strong decision-making skills and initiative in managing tasks and meeting deadlines
Bonus Points
- Experience working in a nonprofit organization
- Experience with accounting software systems other than QuickBooks, such as Xero, FreshBooks, Wave, or similar platforms
- Formal education, certifications, or training in finance, accounting, business, or a related field
