Function of Position:

Reporting to the Director of Pre-Collegiate Partnerships (PCP), the College Now High School Student Success Coordinator is responsible for increasing enrollment in College Now (MCC's Dual Enrollment program) courses in the high schools, building positive relationships with targeted high schools (including Early College sites), implementing college readiness activity at K12 schools, and maintaining data on enrollment, persistence, and completion of College Now pathways. At least 75 percent of this position will require travel to high schools, community events, parent nights, and other related activities.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:

Enrollment, Advising, and Registration

  • Collaborate with the Director PCP, Concurrent Enrollment Coordinator, faculty liaisons, and high school partners to promote and enroll students in the College Now program, offering guidance on registration and advising support.
  • Support Early College students in navigating college processes, connecting them with resources in Admissions, Financial Aid, Advising, Workforce, and Student Life to ensure readiness and a smooth transition to postsecondary studies.
  • Monitor student progress in College Now pathways, collaborating with high school staff on necessary interventions or adjustments to keep students on track.
  • Program Development and Communication

  • Develop college readiness and success programming, encouraging active student participation.
  • Create and distribute resource materials for internal college departments, K-12 partners, students, and parents to promote program success and continuity.
  • Manage orientation and outreach efforts, communicating with students, parents, and Success Coaches on registration status, deadlines, and next steps.
  • Data Management and Student Records

  • Collect and analyze student progress data, implementing communication plans and intervention strategies as needed.
  • Maintain organized records for College Now students, ensuring efficient information sharing and compliance.
  • Partnership Development and Training

  • Collaborate with faculty liaisons to train School Counselors on college and career readiness for College Now students.
  • Facilitate connections between College Now students and campus events, resources, and support networks to foster engagement.
  • Other Responsibilities

  • Serve on college-wide and department-specific committees, supporting initiatives related to the College Now program and student success.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support program goals and student achievement.

  • Requirements:

    Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum two years' experience with high school or college student advisement.
  • Possess a strong understanding of college student development and the ability to educate high school students on navigating the higher education system.
  • Ability to work collaboratively.
  • Comfort in developing and maintaining positive relationships with students, high school and college faculty and staff, and parents.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at the College.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings/weekends.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in education, higher education, counseling, or related field.
  • Experience working with students in the high school or higher education setting.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication and inter-personal skills, especially with diverse students.
  • Willingness to develop familiarity with career paths related to MCC's Schools.
  • Proven experience working with culturally, economically, and academically diverse students.
  • Knowledge of Banner, DegreeWorks, and Brightspace.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and training.
  • Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently

  • Additional Information:

    Salary: Salary is determined based on experience, internal equity and college budget. This position has a range of $52,000 to $59,000 and is based on these mentioned factors.

    MCC offers a Flexible Work Policy for benefit eligible employees. Types of flexible work arrangements include flextime/staggered shifts, remote work/telecommuting and compressed work schedule. The availability of flexible work arrangements varies by division, department, and position, based upon business and operational needs. Limitations to flexible work arrangements are outlined in the official policy.

    Prohibition of Remote Work Outside New York State: Remote work locations outside New York State are not authorized by the College due to out-of-state tax and regulatory implications. In limited circumstances, prompted by business or operational needs, the College may approve requests to work remotely outside of New York State, on a short term, temporary basis.
