Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
Responsibilities:
Initiates the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of recruitment strategies and activities to support the recruitment needs of divisions across the university. Advises departments on HR policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations related to recruitment and hiring. Recruits, screens, and conducts reference checks on qualified candidates in preparation for referral to hiring managers. Conducts interviews with qualified applicants. May assist with official offers of appointment, including determining starting salaries within established compensation plans.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Recruits, screens, and performs reference checks on qualified candidates in preparation for referral to hiring managers. Determines eligibility for hire and rehire prior to referral to department managers. Reviews personnel files and system records for prior employees to assess suitability for rehire. Keeps all parties (departments, applicants, recruiting sources, etc.) informed about the progress of recruitment and placement efforts. Makes official offers of appointment, including starting salaries within established compensation plans.
- Develops and executes recruitment strategies in collaboration with business units and HR Business Partners. This includes building and maintaining relationships with appropriate recruitment sources for qualified and diverse candidates, utilizing a variety of effective advertising and social media channels, and establishing partnerships with schools and programs that produce qualified candidates.
- Conducts interviews for qualified applicants in coordination with requesting departments, exchanging interview summaries related to qualifications before and after each interview. Supports departments during interviews as needed, including assisting with the development of interview questions and templates.
- Provides guidance to departments on university policies and procedures. Educates hiring managers on providing necessary materials to HR liaisons to ensure the efficient closure of the offer process, as well as scheduling for orientation, physicals, drug screens, etc. Counsels applicants (internal and external) regarding qualifications and directs them to the most appropriate positions based on their credentials. Advises applicants on university benefits and perks while maintaining up-to-date knowledge of benefits changes that may impact recruitment efforts and related materials.
- Represents the university at recruitment events in the community, at schools, and at public and private employment agencies and placement offices. Participates in committees and boards as requested.
- Collaborates with the Equal Opportunity Director and staff to identify departments needing support in sourcing and hiring efforts to create diverse candidate pools and meet the university's Affirmative Action obligations.
- Maintains records and provides reports of activities and statistics to department managers, HR partners, and leaders as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree and two years of related experience required
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Due to the nature of the hybrid assignment, the Talent Acquisition Specialist will need to live within a reasonable commuting distance to Rochester, NY.
