Rochester Institute of Technology’s Department of Computer Engineering invites applications and nominations for a lecturer (non-tenure track) faculty position. Candidates must have experience teaching courses in an Computer Engineering curriculum in one or more of the following areas: Facilities Planning, Systems Engineering, and/or Engineering Management. Applicants must have a PhD degree in Computer Engineering or a closely related field. Candidates with a Masters degree with extensive teaching experience in Computer Engineering may be considered. Candidates must also have demonstrated a potential for high quality teaching; experience directing teams and facilities within industrial and/or academic settings; potential to organize, advise, and evaluate industrial projects; potential to establish working relationships with industry for student projects; excellent written and oral communication skills; and the ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the university’s continuing commitment to cultural diversity, pluralism and individual differences. Department/College Description
The College/Department: The mission of the Computer Engineering (CE) Department (https://www.rit.edu/kgcoe/CE/) is to provide CE education that integrates experiential learning with an agile curriculum and research, with a student centered approach, resulting in graduates who make immediate and long-lasting contributions in manufacturing, service, government, and academia. The CE Department houses state-of-the-art laboratories that support courses and research activities and provide hands-on educational experiences. The department offers an undergraduate degree in CE and graduate degrees in CE.
The Kate Gleason College of Engineering (https://www.rit.edu/kgcoe/) has established its reputation as a preeminent provider of career-oriented engineering education with a rapidly growing commitment to research. It offers bachelor degree programs in biomedical, chemical, computer, electrical, industrial, mechanical and microelectronic engineering, and comprehensive, innovative graduate programs in a range of engineering disciplines including a broad-based cross-disciplinary doctoral degrees in engineering and in microsystems engineering.
Required Minimum Qualifications
- A PhD degree in Computer Engineering or closely related field. Candidates with a Masters degree with significant experience in teaching in Computer Engineering may be considered;
- Experience teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in an Computer Engineering curriculum;
- Demonstrated potential for high quality teaching;
- Experience directing teams and facilities within industrial and/or academic settings;
- Potential to organize, advise, and evaluate student projects;
