Job Summary
The Program and IT Project Manager serves as an essential member of the operations team at RIT Certified, working at the intersection of programmatic development and IT support. This position will coordinate activities of the individual project teams to ensure that learning programs and other department projects progress on schedule, within budget, and produce a high-quality product. This role works collaboratively with the Academics team to help guide the development of new learning programs through full proposal, design, and development cycles. Working closely with Manager of Data & Systems, this position will also be responsible for leading aspects of IT project delivery, directing cross-functional teams, and managing multiple moderately complex to complex IT projects.
Reporting directly to the Director of Workforce Innovation & Implementation, this position will build and maintain working relationships with all team members across the organization, ensuring projects meet business objectives as well as compliance and security requirements.
Job Responsibilities
Project Management
- Manage the design, development, deployment, and measurement of large scale cross-functional projects as well as programs within the Academics portfolio of offerings, with oversight from the Director, Academic Affairs
- Manage cross-functional project scope and project controls in collaboration with other team members, ensuring alignment with RIT Certified’s strategic objectives
- Establish overall project plans for programs and projects across the organization, identifying scope, key milestones, resources, and deliverables
- Identify project threats and blockers, and implement corrective action as needed
- Assemble and manage project team members; Maintain productive relationships with all project stakeholders and project team members
- Maintain up-to-date statuses of projects and programs, keeping team members and leaders well-informed.
- Devise and maintain cross-functional documentation of processes and procedures
- Manage project budget and project resource allocations
Risk Assessment
- Working closely with the Director of Workforce Innovation & Implementation, provide direction to clear barriers to team progress, maintain adherence to the work plan, resolve conflicts within and outside the team, and ensure the project goals and staff assignments are realistic and achievable
- Conduct quarterly SWOT analyses to ensure progress toward deliverables
- Perform risk management tactics to identify, document, and minimize project risks
- Anticipate and resolve project issues and problems, escalating risk and issues as needed
- Participate in priority planning for organizational initiatives
IT Project Support
- Work collaboratively with the Manager of Data & Systems to ensure seamless integration of technology platforms and programs
- Support the management and project planning of IT tasks and initiatives
- In collaboration with the Manager of Data & Systems, identify and act on opportunities to improve and update software and systems
- Manage development, execution and analysis of effective test scenarios, scripts, and use cases with consideration to cross-functional and process stream impact
- Continuously evaluate and improve IT support processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for the IT support team and regularly track and report on performance against these metrics.
- Manage relationships with third-party vendors and service providers to ensure timely resolution of issues and adherence to service level agreements.
Required Qualifications
Experience:
Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience, of which some must be in an IT capacity
Skills:
- Knowledge of project and program management processes, tools, templates, and management techniques
- Experience in IT-related roles and associated skills
- Track record of meeting deadlines consistently with multiple assignments occurring simultaneously and documenting progress
- Acute attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and quality in all deliverables
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with vendors, team members, and stakeholders at all levels
- Ability to analyze quantitatively, problem-solve, scope requirements (technical and non-technical), and support prioritization exercises
- Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and empower team members
- Ability to empower and support multiple teams
- Ability to synthesize and organize large amounts of information into digestible outputs
- Problem-solving, negotiation, and conflict management skills
- Ability to work across organizational boundaries to drive closure of complex delivery challenges.
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills
- Ability to remain focused and organized while multitasking
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing and implementing IT policies and best practices
- Proven experience in IT support roles, including a leadership or management position
- Experience developing and implementing IT support processes and procedures
- Project management certification(s) a plus but not required
