Responsibilities:
GENERAL PURPOSE:
The laboratory technician assist with ongoing experimentation in the lab. Support in this role includes, but is not limited to stocking necessary reagents/supplies, assisting with ongoing experiments, data collection and analysis, and resolving technical issues related to equipment operation.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Student will participate in ongoing experiments within the laboratory that aim to elucidate the mechanism(s) of skeletal muscle loss in a murine model of Pancreatic Cancer.
- The student will work under the guidance and mentorship of Dr. Cole, a postdoc, and a graduate student within the lab. The goal of this position will be to develop each student’s ability to guide biological experiments with an end-goal of manuscript submission.
- Animal handling and dissection. Student will be actively involved in animal experiments and will assist in animal surgeries. They will also participate in collection of samples and preparation of samples post-surgery experiments.
- Student will perform basic molecular biology techniques such as Western Blotting, and RT-qPCR. Student will work with the postdoc to perform histology and immunohistochemistry of murine tumor and skeletal muscle tissue.
- Student will participate in basic lab maintenance and housekeeping

QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or equivalent and 1 year of relevant experience required.
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- College degree preferred.
- On the job training will be provided. Previous work in a laboratory is preferred.
