SUPERVISION AND DIRECTION EXERCISED:

• None

MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT USED:

• Electrical and pneumatic gauges, various electrician's, plumbing and carpentry hand tools, high vacuum pumping devices and the like.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

• Maintains, in accordance with close-tolerance specifications, the temperature, humidity and air flow in building or portions thereof. Troubleshoots, disassembling valves, connections and the like; identifies problems and makes necessary adjustments and repairs or replacements.
• Changes, replaces and aligns fans, belts, bearings, compressors and associated peripherals.
• Inspects, installs, repairs and replaces pipes, fittings and plumbing fixtures to maintain heating, water, gas and drainage systems. Estimates material requirements and costs; requisitions parts.
• Maintains fire protection systems, flushing and checking automatic sprinkler and underground systems.
• As requested, performs miscellaneous tasks such as shovel snow, loading and unloading delivery trucks, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 4 year apprenticeship program and 2-3 years experience in heating and air conditioning in combination with working exposure to other skilled trades;
• or an equivalent combination of education and experience
