Job Responsibilities

Assist the Manager of Print and Mail Services with daily production (prepress, print production, wide-format production, finishing), consulting with customers concerning file design and setup, scheduling and training of student employees and general oversight of quality of work and cleanliness of department (equipment and work areas). Operate digital presses, scanners to duplicate electronic and hardcopy documents. Provide customer service (walk-in, appointment, and telephone), data entry (departmental charge backs and inventory), external ordering (name plate and name badge). Customer service attitude is imperative. Duties & Responsibilities: · Operating print production, bindery, finishing equipment, and scanners. Customer service via front counter, email and telephone. Print/duplicate confidential materials such as exams and administrative documents. Create, produce, and install wide-format graphics both at the Print Center and at other campus locations. · Ensure that supply inventories are maintained and incoming supplies are put away. Delegate finishing tasks and deliveries to student workers. · Assist supervisor in hiring, training, scheduling and supervising student employees. · Assist in monitoring inventory levels of paper, stationary, digital press and wide-format printer supplies for Print Center · Departmental charge backs and associated computer work and bookkeeping as well as for supplies sold in department. · Assist customers with inquiries on production standards and templates for posters, postcards, brochures, greeting cards, invitations and other printed pieces as necessary. · Process name badge and nameplate orders through outside vendors and assist supervisor in purchasing outside print jobs as necessary. · Assist supervisor in monitoring supply inventory and keeping pricing up to date through recommendations. Involvement with assessing department technologies, workflow processes and other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education / Experience

Education: AAS or Bachelors Degree preferred. Experience: Minimum of two years related experience, aptitude for math, mechanically inclined for working with machinery. Experience with variable data printing, mail merges and electronic documents.

Competencies / Skills

Computer Competencies Required: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, as well as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Acrobat Professional. Knowledge of various file formats, file management processes, data storage standards. Equipment/Software: Familiar with: Printing equipment: Konica Minolta AccurioPress, HP DesignJet Wide Format, Graphtec Plotter Finishing Equipment: GBC and Accubind bindery equipment, power paper cutter, power creaser/perforator. Electronics: P.C. with Microsoft OS, Adobe Creative Cloud, Fiery Command Workstation

Supervision of Employees

Supervision of 6–8 student employees.

Work Environment

Well lighted, air-conditioned work area. No windows, concrete floors. Working with toners, cleaning products and machinery. Moderately high noise level.

Work Hours

Generally a 40 hour work week. Hours may occasionally be extended on short notice to accommodate rush and high priority jobs.

Special Conditions for Eligibility

Physical Demands: Above average amount of standing, walking and reaching throughout the day. Heavy lifting often required (40-50 lbs.).
