Compensation Range:

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Performs accounting and bookkeeping activities of a complex nature for a major college or division of the University. May coordinate activities of lower-classified clerical staff. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Processing: Performs review of critical data. Assists with due diligence and administrative-related activities. Ability to apply generally accepted accounting principles, tax compliance regulations and University policies and procedures to a variety of situations and effectively communicate the information in an easily understood manner. Performance is measured based upon the timely, accurate, complete, and efficient completion of tasks and ability to work independently. Establishes priorities appropriately, demonstrating an understanding of the urgency of tasks and the impact of tasks on the department/individual/university. Monitors workflows/work queue diligently so that any rejects or problems can be re-worked in a timely manner. Customer facing activities/customer service: Faculty, staff, students, and external customers receive prompt and courteous customer service. Works to ensure customers' needs/expectations are addressed appropriately. Demonstrates professionalism by exercising sound judgment and creativity by representing the department in a positive manner. Conveys accurate information in a friendly, helpful and professional manner. Reconciliation and auditing of data/activities: Demonstrates knowledge of compliance and attention to detail upon transaction review. Attempts to resolve problems before bringing them to supervisor, or offers viable solutions. Assists manager in accounting procedures and takes the initiative to understand the full budget process. Initiates and/or leads projects and develops ideas. Performs quality control checks, verifying processes, including monitoring and reviewing daily reports, collecting missing information, and adjusting as appropriate. Tracks and maintains reconciliation for year-end reporting, identifying inconsistencies in data for explanation or correction. Extract data from systems to identify non-compliant and other problematic transactions. Prioritize investigation and follow up activities as appropriate given University policies and risk assessment. Reporting: Coordinate and prepare periodic financial reports for various government, University, and external customers. Other: Provide coverage for other team members, as needed. Demonstrates commitment to co-workers' success by sharing information and offering assistance across department as appropriate. Demonstrate knowledge of unit functions and can identify resources for further research and information. Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: Associate's degree in Accounting/Bookkeeping preferred. 3-4 years of related work experience required or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to thrive in a high-volume work environment, excellent communication and customer service skills, superior organization skills and PC experience including Excel required; Outlook and Word preferred.
