Job Title: Manager Laboratory Services

Hours Per Week: 40 hours
Schedule: Days; Monday Wednesday & Friday 8am to 430pm
SUMMARY
Manager, under the direction of the Department/Division/Administrative Director, will manage day to day operations including accuracy for patient results, instrumentation, regulatory issues, procedures and processes as appropriate. They will supervise department staff and manage financial and staffing budgets appropriately. They will work with affiliates to standardize best practices throughout the laboratory departments.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Technical Supervision - Scheduling of technical staff appropriate to workflow patterns. Assures that the procedures/manuals and instruments used conform to good laboratory practice. Assures the validity of laboratory results.
- Human Resource Management - Interviews, hires, plans training, supervises, disciplines, and terminates personnel in their department in conjunction with the Manager in Lab Administration responsible for HR. Maintains LA staffing files according to regulatory requirements and reviews files annually for completeness.
- Financial and Materials Management - Prepares and monitors staffing, operating, and capital budgets adhering to approved budgets, reporting variances to Administrative Director. Maintains needed stock and supplies. Confers with sales representatives obtaining best supply price wherever possible and service representatives to monitors preventative maintenance programs for lab equipment.
- Regulatory Compliance - Is responsible for and adheres to all regulatory standards and inspections for the department. Successfully completes, monitors and generates appropriate reports for QA and QC activities of all staff and department.
- Training and Competency - Is responsible for department orientation, oversees staff educational needs, training, and staff competency assessment. Assists in teaching the schools of medical technology and phlebotomy programs as requested.

REQUIRED QUALIFICTIONS:
- BS in Medical Technology or BS in a related Science and/or equivalent relevant experience as recognized by New York State Department of Education for licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist. (NYS Dept of Education, Education Law, article 165, 865-9/1/6)
- Minimum 6 years experience as a medical technologist.
- Current New York State Department of Education License or Limited Permit (1 or 2 yr) as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
- Must meet New York State Department of Health CLEP requirements as a laboratory supervisor.
- If travel is required, must have a valid NYS driver’s license.
PREFFERED QUALIFICTIONS:
- Certification by ASCP preferred, but not required.
- Previous experience in a laboratory supervisory or leadership position preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
PAY RANGE: $90,000.00 - $130,000.00
