Function of Position:

This position reports to the Vice President, Economic and Workforce Development and Career Technical Education in the Economic Development and Innovative Workforce Services (EDIWS) division and is responsible for program management of Economic and Workforce Development Center/Corporate College products and services in specific program areas. The Director is responsible for identifying new products, market segments and/or delivery method opportunities across the business services programing areas. The Director is responsible for several corporate relations/outreach clients resulting in sales of customized training. The Director leads the learning assessment and implementation functions and staff coordination, manages strategic and tactical project efforts as directed by the VP of EDIWS. The position responsibilities also include budget development financial reporting for the Economic and Workforce Development Center/Corporate College, development of the annual strategic and financial plans, and the continued establishment of positive internal and external relationships to benefit the division and the College.

*This is a temporary position that may be renewed annually contingent upon availability of college budget and performance reviews. This position is eligible for paid time off and benefits.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the programming direction and the director/manager for IT/Software learning and development including oversight of the development of open enrollment programs, custom contract training, and associated budgeting, instructor selection and retention for IT/Software programs.
  • Directs efforts for sales and delivery of custom contract training for companies, organizations and non-profits in the healthcare, information technology, business services, financial, government, and retail areas with revenue attainment goals of 15-20% of annual contract training transactions.
  • Directs project implementation efforts on initiatives supporting regional learning and development programs as directed by the VP, EDIWS including collaboration with internal and external resources to determine deliverables to meet strategic objectives.
  • Oversight and collaboration with the Program Director, Corporate Relations in client qualification and high-level needs assessment with contract training prospects related to company training needs and deliverables. Directs staff to liaise with assigned or prospective training consultants on development and implementation of the needs assessment and training implementation processes.
  • Oversees development efforts around the triannual open enrollment schedule/catalog development and alignment of instructional resources for appropriate new and repeat sessions.
  • Directs the development of the annual Corporate College budget and financial planning process following the LERN methodology and tracks, monitors, and reports regular progress to all internal departments and the VP, EDIWS.
  • Collaborates with marketing personnel to promote offerings and event coordination support.
  • Fully utilizes all EDIWS division technology, including SalesForce.com, CampusCE, et al for activity reporting, tracking, budgeting, and monitoring.
  • Participates on EDIWS and College project teams by interfacing internal and external resources as needed.

  • Requirements:

    Required Qualifications:

  • Earned bachelor's degree in business administration, communications, human resources, or in a related field from a regionally-accredited higher education institution, and a minimum of five (5) years of significant experience in adult education/training in a corporate or academic setting.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse individuals and groups and engage with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience developing relationships in the sales, service, delivery, and/or development of learning deliverables for an adult audience.
  • Experience in budget development and oversight in either project or departmental capacity.
  • Superior problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with keen attention-to-detail.
  • Experience in managing direct reports in a corporate or academic learning environment.
  • Evidence of successful ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a self- directed manner.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Earned master's degree or higher in business administration, communications, human resources, or in a related field from a regionally-accredited higher education institution with experience in progressively more senior level administrative and management roles in adult education/training in a corporate or academic setting with responsibilities for instructional design, instructional delivery, and program development/project management.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Proficiency with SalesForce or other CRM software.
  • Experience in B2B relationships.
  • Experience in business logistics, data analysis.
  • Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently

  • Additional Information:

    Salary: Salary is determined based on experience, internal equity and college budget. This position has a range of $85,000 to $89,000 and is based on these mentioned factors.

    MCC offers a Flexible Work Policy for benefit eligible employees. Types of flexible work arrangements include flextime/staggered shifts, remote work/telecommuting and compressed work schedule. The availability of flexible work arrangements varies by division, department, and position, based upon business and operational needs. In limited circumstances, prompted by business or operational needs, the College may approve requests to work remotely outside of New York State, on a short term, temporary basis.
