Function of Position:
Reporting to the Director of Learning Support Systems, Peer Tutors are current MCC students who work with other students to help them understand course material, develop effective learning strategies and to become better learners.
Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:
Primary Functions:
Help students interpret and understand technical assignmentsHelp students understand and use effective learning strategies so that they become more independent and intentional learnersPromote critical thinking and problem solvingHelp to identify and fill learning gaps with discipline specific contentDevelop and nurture rapport with students, peers, and facultyAttend training activities to comply with certification requirements before and/or during semestersAdhere to tutoring center protocol and tutoring expectations as outlined in the Tutor HandbookDepending on your expertise, provide one-on-one and group tutoring assistance in one or more of the courses listed in any of the following subject areas: CIT 101, 112, 122, 123, 204, 206, 217, 221, 232 - Electrical Engineering Technology
ELT 102, 111, 112, 121, 130, 134, 201, 202, 204, 205, 206, 231, 234 MET 101, 103, 121, 122, 135, 201, 203, 206, 208, 225 TEK 101, 145MCC Expectations:

Current MCC Student in good standingCourse transcripts with B or better grades in the course(s) you want to tutor or in equivalent ENR or TAM coursesTechnology savvy
