Responsibilities

GENERAL PURPOSE:

The Provider Relations Liaison is AHP's first impression and lead contact for providers and provider groups. Responsible for engaging physicians, advanced practice providers, and practice staff to build affinity with the organization and support provider alignment with the AHP system. Facilitates the efforts of various AHP teams (Optimization, Pharmacy, and Medical Directors) to develop and implement quality improvement and cost-savings initiatives in provider practices. Assists with the management of the provider network by developing and maintaining professional relationships with provider practices. Assists with recruitment activities and manages the administrative aspects of provider contracting. Manages content development, publication and distribution of provider communications. Supports projects and performs related tasks as assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provider Relations – Outreach and Engagement:

  • Develops and implements outreach and relationship-building plans to meet specific goals; maintains regular contact with key provider organizations via in-person and virtual touchpoints.
  • Coordinates with Provider Data Coordinator and Communications Specialist to leads process for regular systematic updates and ensure provider database and documentation is up-to-date, accurate, and complete.
  • Serves as a liaison to resolve complex issues; identifies and monitors provider issues and concerns, recommends solutions, follows up with providers during the process, and communicates resolution to ensure problems have been resolved; investigates and resolves provider claim issues related to contracted health plans and payer set-up issues
  • Provides training and technical assistance to network providers; shares best practices and lessons learned across practices; educates providers on new protocols, policies, and shared savings contracts

Provider Relations – Recruitment and Onboarding:

  • Coordinates with members of the AHP team to execute cross-functional onboarding for new practices, providers, and practice staff
  • Maintains detailed call and visit tracking system to report on outreach activity; reports regularly on activities, problems, and proposed solutions
  • Respond to inquiries from prospective AHP providers about AHP, services, and the benefits of membership in the network
  • Assists in network development in areas of network expansion; initiates searches for highly specialized providers when needed
  • Liaise with external partners and vendors to assist the Director, Provider Network Management & Payer Relations with achieving relative goals.

Communications and Event Planning:

  • Develops and implements a communications strategy for network communications, including, but not limited to, network newsletters, expository articles, website content, and clinical communications; works with clinical and other stakeholders to develop communication content; manages publication and distribution of communications.
  • Assists with maintaining AHP brand standards through development or co-development of branded material.
  • Participates in the planning, organizing, and execution, quarterly Practice Manager meetings, and other provider events as needed.

Cross-Functional Quality Improvement Activities:

  • Serves as a functional member of the Optimization Team; assists the Optimization Team, Pharmacy Team, Care Management Team, and medical directors with connecting with provider stakeholders for quality and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Assists with program initiatives and implementation (e.g., implementing quality performance monitoring tools, using practice knowledge to identify partners for specific initiatives, etc.).

Health Plan Member Education:

  • Responds to inquiries from contracted health plan members; serve as a subject matter expert on contracted health plan benefits relative to AHP participation and network providers; participate in open enrollment events.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in business administration, healthcare administration, marketing or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum three to five years of provider relations, healthcare contracting or practice management experience; experience in a managed care or insurance environment preferred.
  • or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
  • Highly motivated problem solver with excellent analytical skills.
  • Working knowledge of healthcare terminology, medical practice operations, reimbursement payment structures and healthcare delivery system.
  • Able to work with web-based systems; proficiency in Salesforce, Constant Contact, SurveyMonkey and Microsoft Office suite preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to maintain productive work relationships with various providers, departments, and professionals at all levels.
  • Ability to work well with minimal supervision, handle multiple projects and assignments and follow through to completion.
  • Ability to follow protocols and use common sense to escalate situations appropriately to management.
  • Availability to work some early mornings and evenings.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with ability to multi-task and follow up.
  • NYS driver's license and ability to travel within the Finger Lakes Region, Western New York, the Southern Tier, and Central New York required.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $70,197 - $105,295 Annually

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
