Compensation Range:

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

GENERAL PURPOSE:
Performs advanced highly specialized technical wet, or animal, laboratory research activities, frequently designing or creating new techniques, procedures and practices. May be responsible for planning, coordinating, and/or reviewing work of lower-classified technical and/or clerical staff. Interprets activities/problems and selects approaches. Plans and conducts experiments, designing or creating new techniques and procedures. Evaluates results and prepares reports.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Exercising independent technical judgment, interprets assignments/problems and selects approaches. Plans and conducts experiments, designing or creating new techniques and procedures.
  • Explores pertinent material. Evaluates results. Prepares reports, embodying pertinent hypotheses, assumptions, procedures, and findings.
  • May plan, coordinate, and review work of lower level or makes recommendations in regard to hiring, promotions, terminations, and the like.

Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 7 years of relevant experience required
  • Associate's degree preferred
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • OSHA safety requirements; scientific methods required
