Responsibilities and Duties:
Answer and coordinate calls for service between public, police, fire department, ambulance and other departments.Operate radios and dispatch personnel (walking/vehicle) for emergency and routine calls for service.Decide priorities of service when necessary in accordance with established policies.Operate computer terminals to retrieve information and relay same (DMV, CICS, OUTLOOK). Control access to College when closed; provide information to the college community and visitors. Monitor CCTV, Fire & Intrusion Alarms, operate video and audio equipment.
Requirements:
Must meet the following minimum qualifications for the Monroe County Civil Service title Public Safety Dispatcher (Part-time, Non-competitive). Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma, plus EITHER: A) one year paid full-time or its part-time equivalent, experience in two-way radio dispatching or two-way radio communications; OR B) eighteen months as a volunteer *for an emergency services organization* with a minimum of one hundred hours of emergency services dispatching experience; OR C) graduation from a regionally accredited, or New York State registered college or university with an Associate's degree in Fire Science, Police Science, or Criminal Justice; OR D) an equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of A), B), and C) above.Volunteer experience must be documented by the participating agency. Employment dates, average number of hours worked per week, and job duties must be included.Emergency services organization to include but not be limited to, volunteer firefighting, ambulance, or police auxiliary organizations. As per department policy, employees of the Public Safety Department will be subject to a background check. Offer of hire will be contingent on the results of this process

Job Type: Part-time, Temporary
Hours: 5pm to 10pm, up to 20 hours per week. Schedule to be determined by department needs, will include holidays & weekends.
Salary: $20.31 per hour
