Responsibilities:
The University of Rochester is seeking multiple Retail Supervisors to manage day-to-day operation of retail dining locations on the University of Rochester's campuses. The Retail Supervisor ensures exceptional customer service and maintains high standards of food safety, cleanliness, and product quality while leading a team of student employees.Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of a campus retail/convenience dining location
- Monitor customer flow and adjust staffing or procedures to ensure efficient, timely service
- Support promotional events and product updates to enhance the customer experience
- Lead, train, and evaluate student employees; conduct interviews, onboarding, and scheduling
- Ensure staff compliance with food safety, equipment use, and customer service standards
- Manage inventory, ordering, restocking, and ensure product availability
- Handle financial transactions, reconcile registers, and maintain accurate financial records
- Perform disciplinary actions and manage performance issues as needed
Requirements
- 3 years of experience in a retail, food services, or dining operations role.
- Associate Degree in Business Management, Hospitality Management, a food-service related degree (preferred, but not required)
- Ability to lead and manage others.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to deliver exceptional customer service and train/motivate staff
- Basic knowledge of food safety standards and point-of-sale handling procedures.
Licenses and Certifications: Serv-Safe and other applicable certifications within 12 months of hire required.
