Job Summary
This is Advanced Practice Provider position responsible for providing health care to students.
Reporting to the Medical Director of the Student Health Center (SHC), this position includes the delivery of routine preventative care, urgent care and education for RIT students. Caring for a student population of 15,000 needs are clinically varied ranging from acute illness evaluation to STI screening, new onset inflammatory bowel disease to gender affirming care and from depression management to laceration repair.
This part-time 11 month position is for 8 hours biweekly with the potential for up to 30 hours at high demand times subject to manager and employee agreement.
This position requires the ability to work one 11am to 7pm shift per week during academic semesters.
Job Responsibilities
- Provides direct physical and psychosocial care to students including comprehensive evaluation, plan of care and patient education under supervision of a physician.
- Serves the RIT student population though development of and participation in outreach activities
- Professional development related to maintenance of licensure, membership in the RIT community and personal professional goals.
- Participates in Student Health Center on-going professional development, quality of care activities, committee responsibilities related to AAAHC (Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care), University/Division Strategic Plans and other quality improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- New York State license to practice medicine as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or as a Physician Assistant (PA)
- DEA license eligibility - must be maintained in good standing
- CPR certification - must be maintained in good standing
- 3 - 5 years of relevant clinical experience, with a focus in adult, family, adolescent, college health or other primary care area.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office functionality including PowerPoint, word processing and excel
- Experience with one or more electronic health records.
- Ability to manage and maintain confidential and private information; uses confidential, sensitive and/or private records and information, protects information appropriately .
- Ability to establish, build and maintain effective working relationships based on respect, empathy and honesty with diverse groups and individuals.
- Effective interpersonal, written, and electronic communications skills, including the ability to convey complex information in accessible terms to diverse or multicultural audiences.
- Knowledge of Deaf culture, American Sign Language (ASL), or willingness to learn.
