Job Responsibilities

The Golisano Institute for Developmental Disability Nursing (GIDDN) is committed to promoting health equity for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) through the vehicle of nursing. The GIDDN develops and deploys educational content to nursing students and residents, professionals, and leaders in healthcare, through a variety of synchronous and asynchronous learning activities, both directly and via distribution partners. In addition to support from the Golisano Foundation, the Golisano Institute is the recipient of multiple grants. The current and largest grant is a 5-year research study with Rush University funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), entitled Ending Diagnostic Overshadowing: Addressing Ableism in the Health Care Context. The Institute is a sub-awardee for this grant which seeks to identify mechanisms of diagnostic overshadowing and to develop educational programs for the health care workforce to end diagnostic overshadowing and improve health outcomes for people with disabilities. Along with this prestigious grant, the Golisano Institute has several additional ongoing grants that focus on improving health equity for people with developmental disabilities. The Golisano Institute is seeking an experienced Program Manager (PM) to oversee multiple grant-funded projects, with 50% of effort consigned to the NIH grant and the remaining 50% of effort consigned to other grant-funded projects. Across the collective portfolio of grant projects, the PM will support the grant’s Principal Investigator and/or Co-Investigator to ensure: (1) successful implementation based on the grant aims/goals (2) compliance with ethical standards for research, funding, and legal requirements, and (3) alignment across partner institutions and with the Institute’s own strategic goals. The Program Manager will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, manage day-to-day project operations, and provide training and support to ensure the achievement of project objectives. The role requires advanced leadership, project management expertise, and significant experience in managing healthcare-related programs. In collaboration with the project Principal Investigator (PI)and/or Co-Investigator (Co-PIs), this role will: Lead the daily operations of grant funded projects across multiple sites, including healthcare organizations and academic institutions, as well as the work of consultants and vendors. Meaningfully include stakeholders (such as individuals with IDD, family members, and health system representatives) in the research/educational product development process. Develop and maintain detailed project plans, timelines, and deliverables. Manage communications and coordinate activities with and among project team members and partners to ensure project milestones are met and align project implementation across sites. Coordinate training, as needed, for partner institutions and project team members (e.g. partner and Institute staff, research assistants, consultants, and vendors). Develop and ensure project workflows and facilitate team functions using project management, collaboration and storage software. Monitor project progress, identifying challenges and implementing solutions to maintain high-quality execution. Work closely with evaluation personnel to support implementation of program evaluation, as well as analysis and reporting of findings. Draft and contribute content to project proposals, reports, and presentations, including updates on project implementations, outcomes, challenges, and successes. Manage institutional review board (IRB) submissions and ensure that all project activities are in compliance with IRB requirements. Work with St. John Fisher’s finance and sponsored programs teams and Institute leadership to manage project budgets and ensure compliance with funding and legal requirements.

Education / Experience

Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, public health, nonprofit management, or a related field, master’s degree preferred Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in program or project management, preferably in healthcare, research, or nonprofit environments. Experience managing complex, multi-site projects with multiple stakeholders. Demonstrated experience with grant management, compliance, and reporting in healthcare or research settings.

Competencies / Skills

Personal: Advanced project management skills. Excellent communication skills, including skills with individuals with an IDD and their families, and stakeholder management skills. Knowledge of IRB requirements and experience maintaining compliance in research projects. Completion of the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) on-line course in research ethics which is available through St. John Fisher University. If the PM has completed this training elsewhere and can provide proof of certification with the expiration date, the certification will be accepted as proof of completion of the required course. Technical: Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe, Google workspace or Office 365, and other shared cloud/internet applications. Familiarity with Asana or other project management software is a plus. Ability to quickly learn new computer-based applications and tools.
