St. John Fisher University is an independent, liberal arts institution that provides a transformative education to approximately 3,800 undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students each year. Across its five Schools, Fisher offers nearly 40 majors in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, business, education, and nursing; 11 pre-professional programs; and master’s and doctoral programs in business, nursing, education, pharmacy, and public health. The University’s residential campus boasts a robust living and learning community and a successful intercollegiate athletics program. Wilson, Jr. School of Education was created in 2003 and is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Education Preparation (CAEP). Fisher is among just 24 providers in New York state with CAEP accreditation. The School provides degree options at the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels to prepare education professionals for certification as well as teaching and leadership careers in schools, elementary through high school. With the School’s emphasis on social justice, graduates learn how to engage their own students as they develop, making a lasting impact on individual lives and the greater community. Job Responsibilities
The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr., School of Education at St. John Fisher University, Rochester, New York is committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship, advisement, and service. The Inclusive Education Department in the School of Education is seeking qualified applicants for a one year temporary position as a Visiting Instructor of Childhood and Special Education. The position may be renewable for an additional year. Job Responsibilities: Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate foundational, developmental and methods inclusive education courses. Clinical courses and teaching courses in the liberal arts, general education core curriculum may be required. Additional responsibilities include the following: undergraduate and graduate advising and service (including department, school and university committee assignments).
Education / Experience
Required Qualifications Master’s Degree in Childhood and Special Education, or related field Teaching certification in childhood and special education Experience with inclusive practices and culturally-responsive teaching at the elementary level Excellent oral and written communication Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching, advisement, and service Demonstrated commitment to the mission of the School of Education Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others Demonstrated interest in diversity, equity, and inclusive initiatives Minimum 2 years classroom teaching experience Preferred Qualifications Additional Certifications Experience teaching in higher education Skills in instructional technology and teaching in hybrid/online modalities Ability to work collaboratively within and across the disciplines represented in the department, school, and university Experience with accreditation Experience supervising pre-service teachers in classrooms
Competencies / Skills
Experience with hybrid/online modalities, and a commitment to and experiences with culturally responsive and inclusive education practices at the elementary level preferred.

$58,300.00 - $68,600.00 per year

The salary range for this role is set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to internal equity, qualifications, experience, and education. The above hiring range is one component of the University’s competitive Total Rewards package which can be viewed here
