Overview
To assist the Commercial Lines Manager in the overall direction and management of the Commercial Lines Insurance department in accordance with the goals, objectives, and policies of the agency. To assist in planning, organizing and staffing activities of the Commercial Lines Insurance Department. To supervise the performance of all Account Managers in your market, in meeting agency objectives in regards to our customer service standards. To assist in maintaining strong and effective relationships with the business community, bank affiliates, and the insurance carriers we represent.
Responsibilities
- Direct Supervision of Commercial Insurance Account Manager Team.
- Ensure high levels of Customer Satisfaction and customer service by monitoring and improving ongoing service delivery methods.
- Provide technical expertise to the Commercial Insurance Account Manager Team.
- Oversee the training and development of the Commercial Insurance Account Manager Team.
- Provide submissions to the Marketing Department in the placement of renewal business.
- Assist in evaluating and choosing appropriate companies for the agency. Once a company is appointed, assist in maintaining positive relationships with company representatives through ongoing contact, communication and meetings.
- Meet with Carrier Representatives as necessary.
- Support full utilization of the Automation System, Agency Procedures, and E&O guidelines.
- Assist in assessing staffing needs, recruiting, training and performance reviews.
- Stay informed regarding insurance technical knowledge, market trends (trade journals), agency automation, company information (bulletins and publications), and other operating techniques; and disseminate information to the Team as needed.
- Handle accounts assigned to you with the ability to function as an Account Manager as well as coverage for other accounts, as staffing needs arise.
- Receive and approve all PTO requests, schedule appropriate coverage, maintain UKG systems and manage overtime to agency/departmental guidelines.
- Develop interpersonal skills to facilitate interaction with internal and external personnel, and possess the ability to influence others.
- Follow all agency policies and procedures as set forth in the Employee Handbook.
- Participate on the Procedure Committee of the Agency.
- Assist in the periodic Commercial Insurance Meetings.
- Perform Special Projects at management’s request.
- Act as liaison between agency and company to resolve customer problems. Maintain good company relationships.
- Lead by example by participating in Joint Opportunity events, as schedule allows.
- Core Business Unit actively market and cross sell other products and utilize all necessary rating operations sufficient for policy quote and/or issuance
Qualifications
- An Associate’s degree. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Insurance Professional designation preferred.
- Must hold and maintain a NYS Property and Casualty Insurance License.
- Three (3) years’ experience in the insurance industry is desirable.
- Able to work in a fast-paced, multiple-task environment with a high-disruption rate.
- Resolve conflict with minimum negative impact on all parties.
- Work independently, prioritize work in order to meet goals in all areas.
- Must be a self-starter, with forward-thinking capabilities, and demonstrate good organizational skills.
- Must be imaginative and creative with good verbal and written communication skills.
- Should have a thorough understanding of Commercial Insurance underwriting and coverages.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. AMS/ImageRight experience is desirable.

Pay Range
